The church belongs to the Old Rite Russian Orthodox Church ("Old Believers"). Dostoyevskiy lived in a house close to here; the house is a museum now..

Big natural fountain of mineral water

Once, this fountain was covered by a nice Art Deco style pavilon; it was destroyed during WW2 and then re-built in mid-70s, but the new steel construction was ruined by the highly mineralized water.

Staraya Russa is a nice small town halfway from Moscow to Pskov. It is mostly famous for a spa - a bit old-fashioned and in bad need in renovation, but a nice one, with mineral waters of good healing properties..
