Comment: The Gorge of Samaria is situated in the National park of Samaria, in the White Mountains in West Crete. Samaria is "said" to be the longest gorge in Europe (which is questionable).

You have to pay an entrance fee of Euro 5.00 to enter the park (free to children under 15, half price to students).

You hike down through it for about 16 km or so and then take a boat.

According to some descriptions of the hike, the problem with it is the crowds, as it became a "must do" thing in Crete for tourists.
