One may wonder if you need this luxury when you believe in God.

Perhaps a something to slip on and a bit of raki would do?

Monastery is built on a rock, with excellent view of the Libyan Sea.

The origin of the name of the monastery has caused much controversy. Some people claim that one day a child playing in the precincts of the church fell off the wall of the church. His mother prayed that the Virgin Mary would cure her child and promised her to make a golden step in the monastery. According to others, the monastery had a golden step when it was very rich. It is also believed that the monks of the monastery had hidden various relics underneath a normal, stone step so as to protect them from the Turks.

The monastery affords a panoramic, really breathtaking view..
Elafonissi, Greece, photo by Inga.
