The Museum of Marc Chagall is a nice place, located on a hill in the Cimiez quarter, featuring Chagall's works on biblical themes. Donated to France by Chagall in 1966 and 1972..

Ironman France in Nice: swim 3.8km, cycle 180km and run 42! Ironman France took place on 22 June 2008 and is one of the largest Ironman events in history. The start was given at 6h30 on the Nice beach, and 2362 athletes, representing 52 nations, from around the world will spend a great day of Show & Sports. No other race in Europe welcomes more athletes than Ironman France..

On Sunday, 22 June 2008, 1500 volunteers worked for the 4th edition of Ironman France in Nice. Run 42.2 km, after a 3.8 km early morning swim, and a 180 km bicycle race. The run course consists of a 10.5 km loop that has to be run four times which is absolutely flat along the Nice coastline on Promenade des Anglais. Three aid stations with volunteers help get athletes through the marathon, offering water, soft drinks, power bars, bananas, etc..

The sport of triathlon was born in Southern California, where events involving swimming, cycling, running or other sports were run by athletic clubs celebrating summer exercise. The idea for the original Ironman Triathlon arose during the awards ceremony for the 1977 Oahu Perimeter Relay (a running race for 5-person teams). Among the participants were numerous representatives of both the Mid-Pacific Road Runners and the Waikiki Swim Club, whose members had long been debating which athletes were more fit, runners or swimmers. Ironman Triathlon was the first major competition to extend the distance to an extreme endurance event. The first Ironman Triathlon was held on February 18, 1978 in Honolulu, Hawaii. In only four years, Ironman France has become the biggest Ironman worldwide, with more than 2,500 athletes. At the same time as the growth of the event in Nice, it is with awe that the 60000 spectators watch the professional field filling out, to offer a quality event which is something to be envied. For this 4th edition of Ironman France, numerous champions once again take their place on the start line. All of them hope to be ahead of their opponents to reach their goal: win the French event and then be granted a slot for Hawaii..
